This song is lyricist-drummer Neil Peart talking about the pressures of living in the limelight and how one is supposed to act from a fan’s perspective and his line: “I can’t pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend” goes along way in explaining how an introvert had to live in an extroverted life.

Great reaction. Loved it! Here are two Rush live performances that you'll love. 1. Working Man live in Cleveland. 2. Best Intro

The transition you're noticing is the change in time signatures from verse to chorus and back.

My favourite live version of this classic, check out Red Barchetta from the same live album, Exit Stage Left. Great reaction btw!

Rush were masters of transition, and making it sound smooth & seamless. A lot of that credit goes to Neil.

saw Rush in the early days before their recording contracts, and many times of the greatest touring

Damn near all of Neil's lyrics are thought provoking and surprisingly still relevant decades after he wrote them

This concert from Exit Stage Left was shown on TV maybe MTV when I was 12 and I've been hooked ever since! Great reaction! Check out Xanadu live from the same concert or Digital Man live guys are a little older but still awesome!

The movie in question is I love you, Man! ( 2009 ).
The band plays this in the movie.

A little known secret is that it's really Geddy's hair that directs the music.

Neil wrote the lyrics here as an intimate portrait of his discomfort with life in the public eye, and I absolutely love how Geddy's vocals and the instrumental composition bring it to life. As mentioned above, he was an introvert, as I am, whose traits are commonly misinterpreted as shyness, but simply reflect our need for time to ourselves to recharge our mental energy, and our preference to establish a meaningful connection with someone before we can feel comfortable allowing them into our personal space; he also struggled with anxiety issues stemming from a near-drowning incident at the age of 10. If you'd like to see another amazing performance from Neil and his bandmates, featuring more excellent guitar work from Alex, I recommend Freewill, which can also be found on Exit Stage Left. Cheers from Canada! 🇨🇦

I have this on dvd. A lot of RUSH songs are in movies 🍿 🎥 I remember watching Rob Zombie’s Halloween they played Tom Sawyer as a trucker was at a truck stop and got out went into the bathroom where he was killed by Michael Meyers!

Entralled is another good word to being drawn into the performance.

Weird seeing the video flipped, with Geddy and Alex seemingly playing left-handed

This song was also on "I love you Man!"

"All the world's indeed a stage
We are merely players
Performers and portrayers
Each another's audience outside the gilded cage"

THIS is definitely one a their best / a Perfectly crafted song. Now if you wouldn't mind reacting to the studio track for 'Limelight', you could quite likely get an even better Feeling, Understanding, and Love for the tune. ✌️
