Some Fun Facts About 1968 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertibles:

4,451 - 1968 Shelbys were made

1,423 - Were GT-500s

402 - Of those were convertibles. Of them,

249 - Came with Automatic Transmissions

AND 158 of them came in this paint/trim combination...this one has also been signed by Carroll Shelby, and you can see his signature on the glove box in the pictures on our website. While this car has a Marti Report, it's the Deluxe report (not the Elite report), which would boil it down further to its most unique nature; but with Shelby's signature on the glove box, it's likely one of the very few of the 158 that have that bonus!

This GT500 was ordered in Wimbledon White, with Black Power Convertible Top, Black Interior, Extra Cooling Package, Visibility Group, Wheel Well Moldings, Power Steering, Power Front Disc Brakes, AM Radio, Interior Decor Group, Tachometer and Trip Odometer. According to its owner, it's powered by its original 428 CID PI (Police Interceptor) V8 topped by a 4BBL carb and backed by its original Select Shift C6 3-speed automatic transmission. The black interior is presented with wood-grain elements, a center console with shifter, Oil Pressure Gauge and Ammeter. The synthetic leather seats are in good condition, as is the black carpet, and all the trim looks quite good as well. The black convertible top is like new, with the original glass backlight having been replaced with a flexible plastic rear window, and it operates as it should. The car sits on a set of 15" Shelby Magnum 500 wheels, which are wrapped in E70-15 Goodyear Speedway bias ply tires that look like they have plenty of life in them. However, when you fire that big 428 to life and click the C6 into drive, be careful when you get on the loud pedal, as this GT500 will easily bake those tires' life right out of them if you nail it!
