A wild encounter with a hippopotamus would be terrifying.

Polar bear clears by a landslide. If you see them they have already locked on to you for a while. Whales and orcas are nerfed though.

Crocodiles - They Hide
Tigers/Lions - They’re Fast & Sharp
Sharks - They Smell Blood
Buffalo/Grizzly - Brute Strength
Polar Bear/Hippos - All Of The Above

I’m an Alaskan Iñupiaq born and raised in northern Alaska. Polar bears have been and still is my boogie man. I’ve seen them in person and 10’+ tall and can out run, swim and kill faster than us humans. We present them but we also fear them. I still get paranoid when I’m out in arctic nature.

Polar bears and tigers are literal story book monsters lol. Sharp teeth eyes that either glow in the dark or are beady and black with little to no compassion behind them whatsoever. Huge claws and both are GIANT. Both will also eat you while you’re alive.

Polar bears are terrifying. Only the hippo would be scarier.

"Polar bear! Skunk's just gonna make you smell bad."

I guarantee you I would be smelling just as bad as a skunk very quickly if I met a polar bear in the wild

And the Hippo just sits back and laughs.. all I know is that Steve Irwin would play with salt water crocodiles as long as a two-story house is tall, and would pick up an inland taipan with his bare hands without a second thought, but the hippo, he always made sure to keep a football pitch distance at all times and that would still make him nervous. So I’m going with the hippo hands down all the time.

Cape Buffalo are called the black death for a reason but polar bears are one of the few animals who will actively hunt humans

The animal I'd want to avoid the most are ticks. Especially the Australian variety. I like my red meat!

I’d still rather run into a lone buffalo than a tiger…like you said a Cape buffalo might attack you, there’s no a big chance but it might. It will not commit to hard or really aim to kill unless you’re a lion. A tiger will aim to kill every time and most of the time you’ll get ambushed. I’m taking the Buffalo

It's a Grizzly all day until a Polar bear shows up. Both you can't out run, out climb outswim and out endurance. Polar bear is just bigger.

Polar bears and tigers often just see people as alternative food items. Everything to them is on the menu.
Addendum: Guys pointing out polar bear and tiger info- this is meant in a joking manner.
