As a singer myself...I can tell Davey has most definitely damaged his vocal chords from years of screaming and most likely not warming up before shows. I wanna say that the band might even be tuned down a half or whole step down so Davey does not have to strain so hard or sing so high. He did also have vocal chord surgery and that for sure changed his voice forever. Watch Girls Not Grey live with long hair Davey and watch a current live performance of the song. Still, Davey and along with the Sing The Sorrow album totally influenced me to be a better and more powerful singer. peace!

aw come on guys he's a little flat, but after years of unhealthy screaming he's paying for it now (on top of natural voice changing with age as well). personally he's done pretty well to preserve his voice and his change of technique will lead to it being better in the longrun (actually, it has gotten better in the past two years).
if they tuned a fullstep down they'd be fine.

i went to the smashing pumpkins concert two days ago with my family, afi opened the concert and i had never them before. they were *super* good, i definitely need to explore their music, and i will never forget that experience.
