Billy's piano line becomes absolutely gorgeous by the time the song begins fading out. Absolutely puts a cherry on this song!

When this was released in 73 it was a instant hit. Photograph are like the consummate reminder of the past and this song depicts it beautifully. This is a song for the ages. Oh yes, George and Billy got a lot of praise when this came out. It's diminished with time. Just so so good. Thanks Buddy.

Love that you're doing this one, Mug! I remember when I heard this song for the first time in 1973, it took my heart away and I always loved it. Only many years later do I learn the whole story behind the song. Written as a sad ode to a partner not coming back, I've always wondered if this was just a cover for Ringo to express his feelings of sadness that the Beatles weren't "coming back anymore".

Great song from a great album! From what I understand, the album was somewhat of a huge surprise hit when it came out.

Lucky to see Ringo perform this live last year with his All-Starr Band. Before he sang this, he said some kind words about George and said, "George always said we wrote this one together so that's what the credits say but I'm still trying to figure out which parts I wrote." I'm sure Ringo contributed plenty but he wanted to make sure to acknowledge George's generous nature. While he didn't top Preston, the great Edgar Winter did an admirable job with the piano part. Wonderful moment and show.

You will also see in this video link I sent you, clips of Ringo performing it at the "CONCERT FOR GEORGE" which was held on Nov. 29, 2002 on the 1st anniversary of George's death, at the ROYAL ALBERT HALL in London. The young man wearing a beige tunic shirt playing acoustic guitar to the right of Ringo in that concert clip, is George Harrison's son DHANI. You will also see Eric Clapton in that same clip. It was a concert featuring many of George's songs from the Beatles years and from his solo years, sung and played by many other famous singers and musicians that were friends of George's or had actually worked and recorded with him, including Paul McCartney along with Ringo, Jeff Lynne, Gary Brooker (from Procol Harum), Eric Clapton, Billy Preston and many others. It's a FABULOUS concert.

Sorry guys, but Billy Preston did not play piano on Ringo Starr's "Photograph" song; according to available information, the piano part on that track was played by session musician Nicky Hopkins. I don't know where you got your information. Don't get me wrong I love Billy Preston and he probably played on some other tracks on the album. I used to have the album and do not recall seeing Billy's name anywhere on it though.

🌸 okay I say this in the most tongue and cheek loving way because I love Ringo.... but this is an example of the reason that Ringo was on drums and not singing LOL

Billy played piano. He didn't write any of the song. So he gets no song writing credit. Its pop, not folk
