Bit the wages available were much higher and inequality was much lower! Today three people own more than the bottom 50% of Americans and the YS economy is vastly larger and more productive. US tax policy favors capital much more than wages. That is what Warren Buffet is talking about. We cannot solve our problems and deficits by cutting as Trump / Musk say. Over the past generation it is tax REVENUE that has fallen (i. e. rich people's taxes). Trickle down doesn't work. But you can't take away the support government provides until there is sufficient income for regular people to not need that support!
