This is Why Brazil’s Geography Sucks! 🇧🇷

Brazil's geography is massive! I mean really massive, with a whopping size of 9,984,670 km2 which is almost half of the entire south american continent. It shares land borders with almost all South American countries except Chile, and Ecuador. And it also shares a border with France. Yeah, that’s right! This is not a country, but rather an overseas territory of France called ‘French Guiana”. One major feature of Brazil is the Amazon rainforest, which makes up 60% of the country, making it one of the most forested countries in the world. However, it's not ideal to live in. So, this makes a huge chunk of Brazil's territory unsuitable for human settlement, and that’s means no scope for economic activity. And what is even worse is that about 10% of land is covered with numerous escarpments making it difficult and expensive for infrastructure projects like building roads or railways. In many ways, Brazil should have been a great power like the USA today. But, its geography sucks!

A HUGE rainforest is much better than being uninhabitable because of deserts, cold, or other things

As a Brazilian, I would say that "it sucks" is relative... Id rather have a huge forest that provides the country with a rich ecossystem, the biggest reserve of fresh water that is not frozen, etc..than "acessible areas" to build more and more cities crowded with people... So it may suck from an American point of view ($$$) but not necessarily from a Brazilian point of view ❤

"Unsuitable for human settlement". Let's dehumanize indigenous people and ignore the existence of a 2 million people city!

No economic value? The fact that the Amazom forest brings ecosystem services that support life is more than just economic value!

I love Brazilian people. Some of the most amazing people to hang around. They ability to enjoy life in the smallest bits makes them so amazing to be around.

Misinformation the raimforest is more like 40% and shrinking rapidly. A third of the USA is desert and that doesnt prevent us from being the number on economy.

Not to mention that, because of Brazil's coastal mountains, its rivers run inland and are mostly non-navigable in the country's economic heartland, hampering trade.

Of course, none of this means Brazil can't be a great power, as new technologies can dramatically change geopolitics (remember how railways helped shift the imbalance between land and sea power, for instance)
