Hai Andy. Thanks a lot for this video. It saves me quite a lot of hassles. I also have seen other videos showing comparisons for these two, especially the browser test, and that makes me wonder why in some videos, samsung performs better, while in other videos, htc wins. I wonder if you can explain to me technically. Thanks a bunch!

Great job Andy, yep speakers on the music far better on HTC but the podcast sounded better on the S4 to me, video & pics look better on S4 also but it's the focus issue on the HTC that let it down, at the end of the day we are looking at two super phones.

Major thanks for this comparison Andy. Especially the GPS comparison is an important one to me. I have to travel by car a lot for my work and the GPS lock on my Desire S mediocre at best, the S4 seems to have a big edge there. Do you have any explanation why the compasses have such different readings?

Yes the error margin size is much more important when it comes to the GPS in my opinion, the amount of satellites doesn't matter too much as long as the error margin is small then you're good to go, any good GPS navigation app will be clever enough to put you onto the right road anyway, so to be honest id say they're neck and neck.

On my S4 the GPS accuracy is 3 meters at best. I have also noticed that holding the phone upright improves the GPS acquisition time and the accuracy somewhat.

If you observe, the data connection was switched off on S4 and both are connected to wifi. So I think that was a fair test.

Just getting htc one but bit worried with GPS locking, I use satnav apps. Quite lots. Do you think this will be a problem with htc one? Thanks in advance Andy.

i think you should put a sim card in the One too before doing gps tests... agps need to exchange some data with cellular cells if i'm not wrong and without a sim i think that is impossible...

Samsung has the speaker in the back of the phone that's why sound is distorted, you should flip it, im sure will be a big difference.

3dmark is an interesting one, in the earlier versions with older firmwares on the Galaxy S4 it was very inconsistent due to the phone just throttling allot, I can see by your Physics score that's the case here as without throttling it should score around 13000, not 10000.
But that's not the case anymore and performance is allot better, still throttles of course with too much usage but all phones should do this.
As you can see the Extreme score is much higher than yours.
Also worth noting the HTC One is delisted in 3dmark now for cheating, so make of that what you will.

To me the S4 seems to have edge slightly overall. I'm definitely not feeling the menu button on the One. Never a fan of on screen buttons, takes up screen real estate.
