The Nonpareil -- Scott Joplin

My performance of Scott Joplin's 1907 rag and two step, "The Nonpareil (None to Equal)," for PianoWorld's Pianist's Corner Joplin-themed recital.

This piece is a really fascinating piece by Joplin, where he stretches the boundaries of classic ragtime. Eschewing the traditional boom-chuck bass, his B and C sections of the rag introduces extensive use of scalar passages.

This is by far one of my favorite Joplin pieces and probably the best example of his work, by far!

Rich, tasteful, beautiful phrases and gorgeous, yet subtle and beautifully appropriate, variations. A splendid interpretation from a gifted interpreter and performer.

Absolutely beautiful, and your improvisation on the second repeat of the trio was astounding

Very nice - effortless and stylish! I especially like the voicing where you bring out inner parts. Thanks for posting this. I really enjoyed it.

Please, what kind of wonderful sounding piano is this?

There's so many Joplin ragtimes to choose from it's hard to decide which to learn next, but your interpretation here is positively fantastic. I just had to learn The Nonpareil after hearing what it could sound like. By any chance, is there sheet music of the second repeat improvisations? Those are so good!

this is a wonderful rendition but your left hand is nearly silent.  I couldn't hear it at all.  otherwise, just great
