Is The God of the Bible Unique?

The scholarship of theology and religion teaches us that the God of the Bible was without a body, only revealing himself in the Old Testament in words mysteriously uttered through his prophets, and in the New Testament in the body of Christ. The portrayal of God as corporeal and masculine is seen as merely metaphorical, figurative, or poetic. But, in this revelatory study, Francesca Stavrakopoulou presents a vividly corporeal image of God: a human-shaped deity who walks and talks and weeps and laughs, who eats, sleeps, feels, and breathes, and who is undeniably male.

Francesca Stavrakopoulou ( born 3 October 1975) is a British biblical scholar and broadcaster. She is currently Professor of Hebrew Bible and Ancient Religion at the University of Exeter. The main focus of her research is on the Hebrew Bible, and on Israelite and Judahite history and religion.

I find it weird that he says she was atheist although it make sense from her positioning. Someone who dedicated that level of investigation and then precise delivery of elevated concepts within a clear rationality could only be a true believer in the most ancient of truths. Thanks Be! We live in the age of science 🧬 where we are discovering truths that are more unbelievable then the reality in front of us!

I would love to discuss the uniquiness of YHWH and the reason why the lituriture and scholars do express YHWH's uniqueness.

Love that laugh!
People will argue that Yahweh is "unique". But then every god or goddess is unique in some way. We certainly can't point to the Judeo-Christians as being the first or only monotheists.

Do you not recall when Joseph was sold off as a slave? Would you rather believe in a king of the gods? What would happen then? They would eventually overthrow one another and claim the throne until once again you send men into a game of thrones?

For an Atheist would it be easier to believe in many "Gods" then just believing in "One Supreme Being?"

I dont look at god as a person or personality which basically the monotheist and pagan religions do. I don't think what created the universe is an entity that requires worship. I think thats a primitive way to look at reality that came from the so called pagan traditions western religion swear they are better than. Lets say the sun which is physical or even a tree is going to be considered god, it can be seen and interacted with so the bowing and other methods or worship makes sense, you are trying to win favor of something you know is at least there. But then in modern monotheism the object is removed and you are bowing to a concept that you cannot interact with based on a book. People are really bowing and kneeling to a character they only met in literature. For their entire lives and living their lives according to a myth which means story that cant be verified, then to make it worse its written by people over a thousand years ago in most cases who you never saw and yet their myth is the basis of your physical existence without question. Can you believe there is a creator or origin to the universe that dont require sweet talking to, that we have yet to discover anways? Do u have to believe in hell because you believe in a creator? Or any of these theological concepts or alleged history? Does belief in a creator whether it be light sound energy or something that cant be described presuppose bowing kneeling praying verbally praising chanting and sacrificing to it? The idols was replaced with the 📚. Thats what the people are worshipping now. Fiction novels. Myths and legends just like greek mythology and roman and Egyptian. The gods are the physical authors because they told you what reality was and it is not what reality is in the slightest. And you bow to their ideas. Mental slavery. If it at least made logical sense maybe it would be appropriate but it does not.

See, Satan was a time traveler, who knew God's plan, and hopped in his DeLorean to go Inspire copycat messiah's in other ancient Iron Age cultures, that dastardly devil.

Shiva is more powerful than YHWH and Satan put together. I am a faith-based atheist. I have faith God does not exist. Shiva is an Extraterrestrial.

This is so misleading. No one is saying that many of the basic concepts behind the God of the Bible are not found elsewhere. The Bible itself makes it very clear that all people have a sense of God. And the church has always recognized this. So, to point this out proves nothing. We would expect all of the religions of the world to have many similarities.

All of the texts about God's uniqueness in the Bible are merely saying that He is the only actual existing God. All of the "gods" of other religions, irrespective of their conceptual similarities on certain levels, do not actually exist. There is only one infinite being; all else being finite. And hence, in actual reality, nothing is like God, not even close. That is an entirely different category from the fact that all false religions copy God's pure truth to one degree or another.

Her entire diatribe here is based on a woeful category mistake.

What would you know historically you were not there? Even if you were like today's time frame knowing what is contains many false narratives.
Furthermore, your self-delusional mindset offers nothing.

Of course the God of the Bible is unique -- He is the Eternal Creator of all that exists. Can't get any more unique than that.
