Tyson's answer was insightful and humble. And this guy could learn from it. Of course people are still going to care about us after we die, but that's not what legacy means. Legacy is your reputation. Caring about your legacy after you die is nothing more than a cope for people who would rather grasp for immortality. It's for people who haven't truly reconciled with their own mortality.

I like what Tyson said. The flip side is this incredibly self important delusion that social media has so effectively created and exploited. I am living it right now writing this comment. Thank God for dust and wind.

On achieving immortal fame, many are willing to be hated in order to be remembered forever. For example, in 356 BC, a vandal by the name of Herostratus destroyed the Temple of Artemis in Ephesus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. He confessed to destroying it to gain infamy, resulting in the legal prohibition against repeating his name. The law, obviously, didn't work.
