BLACK SATURDAY TOPIC
Laetare, Ierusalem

"Laetare, Ierusalem" means "Happy are you, Jerusalem, and all that adore her." The prophet Isaiah originally spoke these words of consolation to the exiled Jews in Babylon. They are only a small hint of the much greater joy and liberation that Jesus was going to bring into the world—a freedom from the captivity to which sin leads, death, and a liberation from the exile and alienation caused by sin. Be joyful, all who were in mourning: exult and be satisfied at her consoling breast. This is a message that should bring joy not just to Jerusalem in the midst of continuous unrest in the Holy Land, but also to New York, Washington, Miami, Los Angeles, Rome, Paris, and all other cities, towns, villages, and locations.

Proverbs 27:17 (NIV)
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
