Puss in Boots

In the fairy tale "Puss in Boots," a miller's youngest son inherits a cat after his father's death - while his brothers receive a mill and a donkey.
Initially disheartened with his inheritance, the young man listens to the cat, who promises to help him improve his fortunes.
The cat cleverly catches rabbits and partridges, delivering them to the king as gifts from his "master," the fictitious Lord Marquis of Carabas.
Learning of the kings plans to travel in his carriage along the river, the cat stages his young master’s drowning and arranges for him to be "rescued" by the king’s men.
The cat further deceives the king by manipulating local peasants and harvesters into claiming the land and wealth belonging to the Marquis – enhancing his young master’s reputation.
Eventually, the cat tricks an ogre into transforming into a mouse, which he eats.
The king, impressed by the Marquis's apparent wealth, offers him his daughter’s hand in marriage. The young man becomes a prince, and the cat enjoys a life of luxury.
