It's a bit late, but we finally got around to editing our Oppo Find X8 Pro versus iPhone 16 Pro camera comparison that we shot while in India with MediaTek last month. The Oppo FInd X8 Pro has some impressive camera hardware, but is itgood enough to go head-to-head with the iPhone 16 Pro? Check out the side-by-side photo and video samples to see how these two leading smartphones stack up in day-to-day use.

Lack of auto focus on Oppo's selfie cam...that's true
Video stabilisation is better on iPhone...that's true

But...
I think some shots were obviously made in portrait mode with background blur on Oppo...volotarly or not ? a way to troll some results ?
And...
More than half the shots are better on Oppo....some exemples :

And of course not a single shot in x25 (600mm), afraid to show how iphone is murdered.

The author insists only on things that are better on iphone : the selfie cam !

Overall : ultrawide offers better details on Oppo (but iphone is a bit wider)
Main : oppo offers less noise and manage better the high light (less burnt parts)
73mm : is it usefull to say optical sensor on Oppo is far better than a 48mm numeric zoom on iphone? The author didn't propose x3 on iphone...or no x4 on both Oppo and iphone
135mm : most of time better on Oppo than the 120mm on iphone
Longer range capabilities : Apple is out of competition...author knows this and hide it !

Apple saves costs on old single layer Sony IMX main sensor when Oppo offers a newer dual layer Sony LYTIA sensor, by providing a huge gap between 24 and 120mm, by giving a cheap and small 1/3.06" 120mm sensor when oppo offers a bigger 1/2.51" (similar to Pixel 9 Pro XL or S24 Ultra)

Outside photo, Apple save costs on Ram (quality, quantity), wifi (no 320Mhz wide on wifi 7 manufactured by USI - cheaper than Broadcom), old lithium-ion battery (no Silicon/carbon), charging speed (both wired and wireless), only 70% DCI-P3 color range supported by screen...

Someone wants his free iPhone in september 2025 ?

Okay. Let me ask one thing. I feel like the photos are a bit hazy on the Oppo. So, Is it that the AQI of the place is bad and the oppo is capturing it correctly than the iphone? or just hazy shots? cause I don't think the photos will be that hazy like in a lowend camera in that.

Most cases oppo > iphone, just weird lose of contrast in some scenes with 6X telephoto, for example 5:45, wondering if its optical issue and bad coatings or post processing error.
Wish their removed 6X and put bigger 3X sensor instead, I like oppo aproach to colours.

Just wondering why the oppo camera is so bad in this review. I have seen other reviews where the camera was much much better, perhaps they were later videos after an update ?
I’d be be interested to hear about what updates and improvements it’s had since 4 months ago .

Both are very similar in camera oppo find X8 have 6 years of Security patches update while iPhone 16 pro max only 5 years 😊

vivo beats iphone even in video quality. i compared them side by side. Iphone is nowhere near Vivo video Quality and stability. Not even Zoom animation is better now

I recently purchased the Oppo Find X8 Pro, and while I’m impressed with many of its features, I’m extremely disappointed with the camera system’s performance. The video stabilization is subpar, especially in low-light conditions, and I’ve experienced frequent focus issues and frame skipping at 30fps. These problems become even more pronounced in low-light environments.

Additionally, I’m disappointed that Oppo didn’t incorporate a larger camera sensor, which would have significantly improved low-light performance and overall image quality. The final results, especially at 30fps, often appear jittery and lack detail.

Overall, I feel that Oppo missed a major opportunity with the camera system on the Find X8 Pro. While the phone is otherwise a solid device, its camera capabilities fall short of my expectations—particularly for a phone at this price point. At €1, 200, this is a substantial investment, and I find it disrespectful to customers that such critical aspects of the device were overlooked.

For now, I feel I have no choice but to wait for the Vivo 200 Pro to launch globally or look for another device that addresses these shortcomings. It’s frustrating because not everyone can easily afford to replace such an expensive phone, making these oversights all the more disappointing.

Iphone on majority of them but oppo did take a few decent shots but video was choppy on the oppo in places seems like software if lacking still on oppo was lacking several years ago and still need to catch up before releasing phones

Something tells me this guy is an iPhone guy and didn't use the correct settings for the oppo.
