Woodworking: How to make a wooden bucket

I admit, this was kind of a silly project but I was up for the challenge. Buckets are actually pretty challenging to make! Each of the staves is tapered and beveled so you have to get the cuts just right for everything to fit together perfectly. On top of that, I tried out bent lamination for the first time, I turned a handle for the bucket without a lathe, and I did the entire project without any metal fasteners. All in all, this definitely challenged my skills but ended up being the fanciest bucket you'll ever see! Check out the video and tell me what you think! If you'd like to challenge yourself, pick up the plans for the project over at my website.

Hey Drew, it's your neighbor. I didn't watch the video but I found this huge piece of wood in my back yard. It's kind of damaged and it looks like it was cut with a saw already, but I know you like to make things with wood, so it you want it let me know and I'll chuck it over the fence or something.

Just be careful coming around the corner of the Fireplace. You could accidentally "Kick the Bucket" Great

At beginning of the video: "Uhhh, why is this guy making a bucket?"

By the end of the video: "Wow, I'm really glad I watched that."

Really enjoyed your thought process from the perspective of someone who doesn't have every tool under the sun. Presentation/narration was good too.

LOVE "blooper/reality" endings to your videos.. it's what actually make me feel better about my woodworking. I USE to say "this isn't how people on youtube do it"... then think I sucked... now i say.. "that woulda been in a blooper reel"...and realize i'm human. SO thanks for that.

The square parts that hold the handle to the main body of the bucket - are they just glued on?

Did you watch any videos of old timey coopers making buckets by hand? Totally nuts! Cool to see you coming up with completely different modern solutions for already well solved problems.

This might be one of the classiest things I've seen you make. Love the look of that sapwood/heartwood. And I always enjoy your creative solutions. The shot of the bottom going in might be the best thing I've seen on the internet this year.

It comes with age! 🙄 Having to pee the moment you have anything to do with liquid, and hey, the older you get the more urgent it becomes too ☹️ Still, at least you now have a bucket 😂😂 Nice Job though 👍

Came out great! Brilliant techniques making those plugs, and I don't know how I feel about your improvised turning being better than my lathe work. Also, was totally waiting for you to kick the bucket at the end
