A master's degree in cyber security is a waste of money. All you basically need is a associate's and the certifications you need

We have a very good Cyber program at my technical college and it's still expanding and growing. Most of our graduates are getting jobs with just the associate's and the Security+ certification. We do Comp-Tia testing right on campus.

I couldn't agree with you more! I graduate this December in cybersecurity. I'm still taking the CompTia Security + and the OSCP on top of my degree. I really think any technical degree is the foundation of any technical field. Certifications help build your career after earning a degree. Awesome video Grant.

Great honest video, you should get certifications first. I had job offers without having my degree as an entry level in the Cybersecurity field.

If I were looking at entry-level job candidates today, these would catch my eye: 1) undergrad in cyber with related/adjacent summer or PT xp and/or Security+/Network+/SSCP; 2) Some other undergrad degree with security-related/adjacent summer or PT xp and or an entry-level cert. 3) somebody who worked their way through undergrad or community college with that job being security related/adjacent and/or with an entry-level cert; 4) honorable discharged from military (or on reserve status) with a security-related/adjacent MOS and/or entry-level cert; 5) unrelated mid-career type with biz and analytic skills looking to make career pivot who has taken some security courses and has gotten an entry-level cert; 6) A eye-catching "Wild-Card" that I will have to spend extra time mentoring/coaching and some extra training money to close gaps all in order to "acquire" what is that that non-traditional wild card property that caught my eye.

Im only getting my degree because its free. From what i see you dont need the degree unless you want to move very high up

Is ec council accredited? I am a high school student(specifically intermediate student) and I am looking forward to make a career in cyber security. So could you please suggest some good, accredited and not so expensive universities with good campus selections.

Hey I am Diploma Engineer, Done my CCIE certifcation in R&S, but I am leaning more in Cybersecurity, I got 5 months Experience In managing PAN India 30 Firewalls and network. Is it worth doing BS in Cybersecurity ?

I have an associates and bachelors and masters in public safety management and criminology with It certifications with my military experience and work doing pen testing. I thought my Degrees were useless but surprisingly I moved up the ladder even with the degrees I have not involving computers.

So I get college for free and i.t. certifications for free. I'm still doing college dispite what people say. If the only reason not to goto college is because of money then I have no excuse. If u have the time, money and ability, get a degree.
