Jefferson to Taylor in 1816...
"And I sincerely believe with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; & that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale"

I agree, going back to the 'basics' offers at least a chance of rediscovering common sense. However, I take issue with "going back to the founding fathers".
Our "founding fathers" lived in deadly fear of what they called the "mob" (the founding fathers' term for the great unwashed who are always in need of guidance by the wealthy few). The ancient records of the discussions around the original US constitution clearly show this 'fear of the mob'.
Please note: That perception makes us "the mob in need of proper guidance".
Let's stop talking about rosy misconceptions of our slave-holding founding fathers, and make a beeline to common sense.

It was great to hear a clear-eyed assessment of the current Fed. It is disheartening to see how weak the Fed is and so easily influenced/directed by the White house. So many unprecedented moves by this administration, thinking that rewriting government from the inside would be so easy. Most there to cash in on spoils of war agaist current culture (for as long as they last).

Why is it such a good idea to have what is essentially a private corporation in direct control of the nations money supply?

At least the President answers to the Congress and the Voters. Who does the Fed answer to?

if usa were a democracy, the citizens would decide major questions by referendum, or initiative. but it isn't and so the people endure whatever their current masters think will profit themselves. i don't know why some writers use the word 'democracy' in reference to usa, certainly madison promoted his constitution as a protection from democracy for the rule of wealth. since the rich still rule, he deserves credit for this success.

But *when* the markets crash, the people will be able to buy _your_ house and then you will end up renting from them so they still win in a bad economy.

Don't delude yourself you have a democracy, not even a republic, you have a corporate conglomerate that holds all citizens to ransom. Trump's dancing as fast as he can, mostly on the quiet, to put things right and there is a whole mess to put right and people to pay for past transgressions. There is a lot to undo. Give him the respect he deserves and the space to move.
