There are Pros and Cons to moving to any location. In Fairfield, I have selected 6 Pros and 3 Cons to this town. If you are thinking of moving or relocating to the area, this is something you would want to know!
Pro #1: Location. Fairfield has 5 miles of coastline on the Long Island Sound. Fairfield is located just 50 miles from NYC, has 3 the Metro North Train stations in town and 2 major highways running right through town. A commuters dream! Fairfield is close to 2 international airports and 2 domestic airports. Bradley International Airport in Hartford is only an hour away, JFK and Laguardia Airports in New York are over an hour and Westchester Airport is only 35 minutes! Plus there are a number of hospitals and medical facilities close by.
Pro #2: Housing Options. 80 % of the house in Fairfield is Single Family homes with a wide range of pricing. There is also condo complexes, apartment buildings and senior living.
Pro #3: Beaches. There are 5 public beaches each with their own special feature. Southport and Pine Creek beaches are quaint and small. Sasco Beach is secluded and has the best sunsets. Jennings Beach is the largest beach with playgrounds, boat racks, food and facilities. It is right next to the Fairfield Marina. Lastly, Penfield Beach has a beautiful new pavilion with food, facilities and a playground. This beach has a sandbar at low tide. Easy walk to the Penfield Reef.
Pro #4: Dining. Many dining options in Fairfield from easy dining, fast food, diners, casual dining, fine dining and many have outdoor seating. There is an excitement and energy to dining in Fairfield and has become the new "go-to" destination in Fairfield County!
Pro #5: Amenties for a healthy lifestyle. Sidewalks for walking and running, hiking and biking trails at numerous conservation areas, 2 public golf courses, a wide range of fitness centers.
Con #1: Cost of Living. It is expensive to live in Fairfield. Fairfield County is the highest per capita income in Connecticut. Fairfield rates #19 within the state. The major driver for cost of living is housing. The median sales price for a single family home is currently $625,000 (a moving target) and is well above the national average of $331,000.
Con #2: Number of people and traffic. Fairfield has approximately 62,000 people with 30 square miles of property.
Con #3: State tax in Connecticut adding to your living costs.
