We need to sign a free trade agreement with Taiwan to pull our investments out of China and Taiwan businesses will follow. Taiwan currently imports more American products on a per capita basis than any country other than Canada and Mexico. With a free trade agreement, we will ensure that our big Tech companies get their components ahead of competitors as well as Taiwanese manufacturers continue to deploy our technology.

Ambiguousness is GUTLESS! If you are such a coward you can't make a stand against anyone but your own people, you don't deserve to be a President. Let's go brandon!

The U.S. and Taiwan enjoy a robust unofficial relationship. The 1979 U.S.-P.R.C. Joint Communique switched diplomatic recognition from Taipei to Beijing. In the Joint Communique, the U.S. recognized the Government of the People's Republic of China as the sole legal government of China, acknowledging the Chinese position that there is but one China and Taiwan is part of China. The Joint Communique also stated that the people of the U.S. will maintain cultural, commercial, and other unofficial relations with the people of Taiwan. The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) is responsible for implementing U.S. policy toward Taiwan.

President Biden’s remarks that that the US does not seek a new Cold War with China; it does not aim to change China’s system; the revitalization of its alliances is not targeted at China; the US does not support “Taiwan independence”; and it has no intention to seek a conflict with China.
