It's possible to do even more damage by using unbreakable heart instead of steady body. Also replacing quick slash with mark of purity would (as far as I know) give you the theoretical maximum damage output. The only downside is that without steady body, mark of purity would basically force you to use up slashes. Sharp shadow also increases nail damage, but you can't fit it into the charm setup.

I'm so used to a nail hit being one third of a spell that it's crazy to watch one nail hit do at least three times more than shade soul

Edit: did the math, a nail hit is actually only two shade souls
