Congress will likely force the Air Force to restore nuclear weapons capability on dozens of B-52s.

Members of Congress are pushing to demand that the U.S. Air Force make all of its remaining B-52H bombers nuclear capable again after the likely sunset of a key arms control deal just shy of two years from now.

Different versions of the annual defense policy bill, or National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), for the upcoming 2025 Fiscal Year are currently making their way through the House of Representatives and the Senate, as Defense News reported last week.

Both bills, which would have to be reconciled before being put to a final vote, already contain similar provisions regarding restoring nuclear capability to some 30 of the Air Force’s 76 B-52H bombers.

These were nuclear bombers when first built. It shouldnt be too hard to re-enable them. Even if they cant re-install the old wiring theres nothing to stop running an entirely new systen and by dod standards "extremly expensive" is about average. Any attemps to block this seem more political than practical. Besides nobody other than the US and NATO seem to give a flying fk about the treaties anyways. Especially with the whole invading and annexing other countires that seema to be all the rage now. Going from 4000 nukes to 10, 000 nukes... were all screwed either way.

Shia Islam might consider sharing this information with their more moderate majority before Saeed Jalili inspires Israel to seek inspiration from a refugee on Patmos.
