I was born with short achilles tendons and couldn't walk flat footed. I had to have them lengthened when i was around 8 years old. One at a time, with weeks in a cast EACH. I'll never forget the pain and discomfort after the casts came off. I had to have physical therapy for weeks because my ankle had never extended that far before. It was like having all new feet.

My dad got this surgery after 25 years in the army and being a jump master. Remember he was out of commission for a couple months but years later hes still very active and works out and golfs regularly
