If you set Chase (Notes) to "On" in Settings > Midi > Chase, the note should play from anywhere you start playback, not just the beginning of the note, without having to freeze/bounce.

well done and inspiring - there is a great Soudpaint synth library called Icelandia I that captures the spirit of Johansson very well...
