Backyard Garden Tour! I August 2024

Показать описание
Welcome to my August 2024 garden tour! 😃
So we're in the final month of winter, the weather is warming up & the garden is looking lush! ☺️🥬🌿
The potatoes have survived the middle of winter thanks to my extra effort in protecting them against the frost, but i'm encountering another issues with the constant rain... blight! 😱 Basically all of my potatoes in pots are infected with early blight(thanks to the location i put them in) So because of the flooding & fungal disease, the plants are stressed & dying early(if they're not dying early, they're losing a lot of leaves due to removal to control blight infection) So yeah those aren't going well, as for the potatoes in the garden beds, they are very healthy, although i've spotted early blight, the plants are too healthy & not stressed enough to be more infected with early blight! 😮💨 This is uploaded roughly 10 days after filming, so the main potato crops are sitting at 80 days now, but the potatoes in pots are even more worn out then in this vlog, but more visible bumps with the potatoes in the garden bed! 😃🥔
For the garlic & onions, they're growing well, well, maybe not the onions 😂😅 My garlic currently don't have any issues besides thrips, but that's not too much of bother, but they are pretty thick so i might be getting large bulbs from them! 🧄 As for the onions, they've been constantly having moldy leaves(i am to blame for this, about 30% 😂) but yeah, the onions in pots i gave a trim and are looking after them well, the onions in the garden bed i gave a shave as a 2nd chance to regrow and come back clean, hopefully still be able to yield decent sized bulbs 🧅
Fruit trees are starting to get out of dormancy & my banana tree has fruited for the very first time! 😃🍌
I have all the warm weather crops planned out, i've got all my popcorn corn seeds & some leafy greens like choi sum, bok choy & water spinach! I will be planting lots of marigold to deal with the rootknot nematodes once the soil warms up, as for the sweet potatoes, i might be reducing the amount of plants than i originally planned!
But yeah, as long as my potatoes in the garden bed reach 90 days & still look very green & healthy, then i am happy with anything i get from then on + it being promising to live up to 120 days! 🙂
Anyways, thank you for watching, i hope you enjoyed! If you like the video don't forget to like, share and subscribe to see more of my gardening content! All the support helps a tone! 😃
