On the edge of Detroit, USA, is a rather special family and their rather special car collection.

But the vehicles (mostly Fords, but not all) in the Roush Automotive Collection aren’t just any old cars collected by Jack Roush and his family. Rather, they’re race cars that his ultra-successful NASCAR team has taken to ‘Victory Lane’ and road cars that his eponymous tuning company has built. Add in a smattering of cars the family has restored or competed in, and you’ve got an amazing array of fast metal.

Top Gear Magazine’s Deputy Editor, Ollie Kew, took a tour, with the welcoming Roush family…

I've gone to Michigan twice for the NASCAR Weekend (2010 and 2013) And we went to the museum both times, all the Roush NASCAR drivers are there along with Jack and Susan for an autograph session. A lot of the old NASCAR vehicles I saw over a decade ago are still in there. Definitely a must-visit if you're in the area.

the thing I dread with TG presenters and 'guests' that they talk to, is that they don't let the guest finish their story before butting in with something else.
A+ for consistency here.

Wow. After listening to Jack's accident story I bet that man has been in church every Sunday since. God bless brother. That's amazing.

Ollie Kew, , talk less, listen more. Let the man with the knowledge talk - and stop interrupting his flow. Time was short (?) but still.

Roush is a legend. I went to high school in Livonia and raced on Telegraph in rust-bucket 1969 Mustangs in the late 70’s. A blast from the past.

The story of Jack's plane crash in a lake, being saved by a guy who was the only one who saw the plane go in the lake. He jumped in a boat (we was by the dock) and this guy Larry Hicks happened to be a retired Navy SEAL, who retired due to terminal cancer. The story is just incredible!! 😯

I went to this place once when i lived in metro Detroit. Some of the NASCAR Cup cars I saw there were never cleaned up after their last race. Cool place

I know you only touched on the more important vehicles in the collection, but was there any talks about the OBS F150 that was in the background around the 5 min mark? I’d love to know the history on that.

I've never been a fan of the Pinto, but that's probably one of the coolest Pintos ever. 20:20

How do you go to that collection and NOT show and talk about those late 80's and 90's Trans Am cars? Of all the race cars in that collection, those are the proper race cars.
