I really want to become an animator but after seeing open ai sora I think my dream died a little? Unfortunately it seems in only a few years ai can definitely replace animators

Thank you so much Harvey for talking about this. This has been on my mind for quite some time as a student of animation. You cleared up my doubts about going on this journey of learning animation.

So, happy u talked more about this!! You touched upon it briefly during the kevin roger live chat and I was hoping u would dedicate a video to it :)))

Well said Harvey!

With how ai is working at the moment, People will use current ai tools to generate work that they already know they like but, I think, we as Animators will need to reach more into our own lived experiences in order to create more engaging animations & stories for audiences that didn't know they needed them.

in my opinion it's another tool thanks that we can make better animation, it not take job. I don't have so big imagination like human, but this is the important things in animation

There are a lot of problems AI still art has right now including the inability to make existing flying vehicles and hands. The next step is quick communication and that's something AI can't do. Think of a sketch artist trying to draw a criminal. The sketch artist will be much quicker at getting a close approximation than AI.

AI animation can get close, but when showing how a modern car's engine works, close is not good enough.

Thank you for bringing THE topic to the table Harvey.
We are all concern about this AI explosion, I personal try to repeat myself everyday exactly what you just tell us in this video. So, is nice to hear it from others as well.

Hey Harvey, this is Antoine. How are you? I hope all is well. Hey, this was a very good take on this whole "AI" situation with Animation and just Art and Artists in general. As much as I hated AI, and (Railed) against it at the time because of its "Unethical and Unregulated" uses of it, but now as of late, I'm slowly starting to come around to the fact that this thing ain't going (anywhere). Especially, now that it's starting to hit the "Animation Industry". Even at the company that I'm currently working for in "VFX", their now talking about how they would like to implement this stuff into their (Pipelines and Workflows) for "Filmmaking which is frustrating, but it is what is. If my boss is cutting the (checks), and I have to use this stuff through "Involuntarily forced attrition", then you bet I'll use it. But It's not that I hate the "Tech" behind this stuff, I think it's pretty cool, and it's just a "Tool", right? Anyway, I'm just (fighting) for the "Artist". In any case, like you, I've been around this game and this industry for a long time and I've always been able to (Adapt) to this ever-changing Industry, and I guess this is another BIG change in the industry that I will need to adapt to. In any case, great topic, and I just wanted to jump on here to show my support for your channel and this topic. Anyway, keep up the great work, and thanks, bro.

Thankyou Harvy for this video. My daughter (13) had always wanted to be an animator, but seeing the rapid developement if AI in this field discouraged her a lot, so much so that she was contemplating changing her stream.
I think I'll encourage her to stick to doing what she loves, but we're a little lost on as to how to proceed further.
How should she proceed so that she can get into a good animations school and which one to be specific. Would really appreciate if you can take out some time to reply to my message.

There is something I feel about development, there is healthy technology there is explosive technology I think AI is the later

the way you describe this, make it seem like the animators work will be worth less if it makes it so much faster/easier to make animations. It also makes it seem like the skill ceiling to become a animator will become lower.
Am I wrong? you think wages will not get lower because of this.

I have few things to say ...

AI means a machine understanding humans.
the thing you mentioned about mocap, in mocap cleanup, there is so much we can automate like common fingers clean up, feet placement, jerks, etc...what if AI observe the tasks that we repeating many times and make a ML regressions which is basic in ML ...
not only in mocap, what if AI is capable of copying the semi-realisticic poses and cartoony stuff.. (rokoko now creating animation from video using computer vision, right now its not that good but what if it gets advanced in future )

less creative animation jobs ..
there are some animation jobs which doesn't require much creativity just doing the same thing again and again what about them

powering independent artist..
there's one trend we can clearly see in growing technology is, it increases the potential of independent artist (like expensive animations for short tiktok videos ), the studios will pick up eventually after their R and D and fitting their pipeline, some times it costs millions to change pipeline.. that's why they are slow ..

AI is not like previous tech..
previous tech like 2d to 3d and mocap every softwere never tries copy human tasks they all based on DSA(data structures and algorithams ) or traditonal programming like creating something from scratch .. ML is literally a data given on excel sheets and let computer observe common things and replicate (for ex:- write bone translate and rotate data of different walk cycles on a excel and say hey computer create an ML regression from it that's it, , , to be very honest it's very easier then creating images fortunately ML/AI engineers are not animators ..😄😄 ) but AI things like chatgpt can dovelop itself like more we use i mean more data we give the better it is .. that's why now softwere engineers are learning ressision proof courses .. (after the recent insidents )

unexpected
they thought AI it is going take hardworking human jobs but it require so much advancement in robotics that's why it taking over creative jobs (stable diffusion, modjourney, etc....)

when...
when casscaduer features are going be integrated in maya and blender cause its going to change everything we do ...
i hope it happen soon so that i dont have to spend animating hour in front of my PC ..

my accurate prediction about future ...

i don't know...😋
