Thanks for the video, Lars! This was a great video for setting this up. I’m in the process of transitioning both of our houses to the Cloud Gateway Max from TP-Link due to both the looming ban and the easy setup of the site-to-site VPN. By the way, we never met at the MVP summit, but I was an eight year Microsoft MVP.

another great Video Lars! this is a great video for a small setup (normal end users) I just did one of these with the G4 Doorbell it worked flawlessly and no subscriptions for the door bell is a bonus!

Hi Lars, great beginner video!
It was already said, but I’m also one of the guys that I rather prefer to skip the flex switch and use Poe injector so I have the full capacity on the AP.

Hi Lars,

Thank you for another great video. Like the setup. However would not have installed the extra switch. Would have used a POE injector. To power the switch you stilll need a poe injector. If she would think about adding a second camera, lets go for a switch, but when thinking about adding only one POE device, injector would be the way i would go. I would also have put a camera in the back yard... But this is up to her ofcourse. Trust me i have the same setup in a few places with only one POE device. But i have a plan to add more devices in the locations where i have this setup.

See you next time

I'm also considering switching to a UniFi system and planning a similar setup. However, I recently found out that the U7 Pro has a 2.5GbE uplink port. Wouldn't it be better to use the Flex Mini 2.5G instead of the standard model, so the switch doesn’t become a bottleneck for the installation?

I would buy the new Flex mini 2.5 G so Alicia can utilise faster speeds. By any chance. how does the Protect perform? is it faster than cloud +?

Switch flex is only (1) GbE PoE. What is the go to device for 2.5 PoE?

Ooh, I was hoping you'd make a video of the install when you posted a picture of it!

Great video! But why exactly this switch? Why no Ultra or other?

I also updated from Asus gear and the CGM has been solid. One U6 Pro is good for my house. I have two flex mini switches, one Flex 2.5G switch and a G4 instant. Looks like the CGM is double natted? Should see the external IP on the WAN IP. Definitely want to fix that if that's the case since they are gaming :) Good video.

With several cameras (8) how quickly can you view on your phone and can you fast scrub thru recorded events? Thanks.

2.5gbps on the gateway will be more important Sept 2025 when NBN release multi gigabit plans at wholesale and the NTD's get updated to 2.5gps NIC's. 2.5gbps on the gateway is not a big help right now as the NBN NTD port is only 1gbps. Good to do a bit of future proofing though.
I like that Ubiquiti have released a selection of gateways now. It took a while to replace the old USG and USG Pro, but now there are choices for all levels of networking.
I think I liked Ubiquiti's old packaging for unifi gear where the screws and tools were stored in a foam block rather than loose bags, and the boxes were a bit more premium looking with that full colour retail box, but the new packaging likely costs less :)

You should have advised them to wait on anything WiFi 7 from Ubiquiti considering they are having tons of issues with the 2.4GHz radios. Even though Ubiquiti is currently working on replacements, still no word on a recall program if there will even be one. So glad I used my brain for about a millisecond and didn't buy into that overpriced and under spec'd (to date) line of AP's. Just an added bonus of not having to deal with this latest mess of theirs.

Sadly Wifiman only works with Cloud Gateway and not with a Could Key.
