My father, Master Sargent Gole, is pictured on ladder. “Stormy Weather a B-17” written by Colonel George Birdsong. A trilogy. ❤

Clark Gable was a B-24 gunner. Posing by a B-17 was a publicity photo

My great uncle was was the tail gunner on the delta rebel then the delta rebel 2. After the first 25 missions he was killed while on foot by a motorized vehicle.

So all those killed were mid to back of fuselage? All gunners?

You don't say if those men went down in plane or bodies found on ground or no bodies found at all.

There were different areas in Germany, where police, local thugs and general civilians lynched Allied air crew.

I identified 3 airmen not on the list of murdered aircrew killed after becoming POWs, often in the hands of local police or civilians, within the last 3 or 4 years. People can hunt for these victims, even now.

The German chap who keeps the records told me that my 3 airmen landed in an area where three men, I think it was, were known to regularly murder airmen who had quietly surrendered.

They faced war crimes trial after war, and were hanged, but it was realised that probably, they killed a number of other airmen that died after being reported as alive and not seriously injured. There just was nobody in those cases who wanted to give evidence. One of the Allied airmen I reported had begged not to be killed and showed.a photo of his new born baby he had never met.
