When Alonso retired, he was ahead of Sato in the same machinery. No doubt in my mind he would have won without the engine failure.

This isn't the Indy 500. It's practice...at the Speedway

I really wished Fernando had of competed in Indycar full time instead of going back to F1. I'm convinced he could win the championship and have a shot at the 500.

I like that Fernando did the Indy 500. That kind of cross-pollination, if you like, is good for both classes. Sadly, F1 and IndyCar, through no fault of their own, breed way too much idiocy and binary thinking.

As someone with both feet in the F1 camp, it can be a little irritating when another F1 fan, not content with mere praise and adulation, slags off everything in IndyCar.

Some elements are a bit of a laugh, like the 'roundy-roundy' as I call it. But to say, in all seriousness, that IndyCar requires far less skill, all I can say, for starters, is fuck off.

I love F1. Have done since Dallas in 1984. And, I'll never develop a liking for IndyCar racing. But when you consider that Indy drivers are slingshotting around a banked oval at 220 mph with a bunch of cars around them doing the same thing, it gives you perspective.
