TED'S QUICK CLIMB FRIDAY F-15 & F-35 UNRESTRICTED CLIMBS • RAF LAKENHEATH HIGHLIGHTS 21.07.23

The most exciting Friday show on earth, Ted's Quick Climb Friday with F-15E Strike Eagle and F-35A Lightning II quick climbs! With all four combat-ready squadron ready for the weekend, what a better way to start it with full afterburners and some serious vertical climbs. We've also got some exclusive unseen TedCam footage from the day too.

The 492d Fighter Squadron (BOLARS) and the 494th Fighter Squadron (PANTHERS) smashed out their F-15E Strike Eagles and the 493d FS (GRIM REAPERS) and the 495th FS (VALKYRIES) destroyed the airspace with their F-35A Lightnings. All four Fighter Squadrons are part of the 48th Fighter Wing based at RAF Lakenheath.

These were the quick climbs from our inaugural, famous show, Ted's Quick Climb Friday on the 21st July 2023 (Excluding runway/taxi/rolling shots)

So what is a Quick Climb?
Unlike the Typhoon which accelerates vertically after 9 seconds from brakes to take off, aircraft such as the F15E or F35A will usually clear the whole runway maintaining an altitude anywhere between 40-100ft with speeds of around 320mph and then pull the aircraft vertically or near vertical to quickly climb to the aircraft's cruising altitude. It is more commonly requested by the pilot as a "quick climb" more usual.

What is an Unrestricted Climb?
This is a good question...simply it is the same as a Quick Climb according to a 494th FS pilot. So Unrestrticed Climbs is another name for a Quick Climb...NO LIMITS

Why do they do Unrestricted climbs/PTOs/Quick climbs
There are many reasons such as clearing airspace barriers, short runways, to burn fuel before air-to-air refuelling or just to get to a destination quicker. But these are just a few reasons, one also could be to impress the Ted Coningsby Squadron...oooohhhh yeahhhhh!

A few weeks ago a f15 from RAF lakenheath flew to Wales and the Skegness and back to lakenheath. It few over my house at 7000 ft right over east Midlands airport epic sounding

Hi today I saw a pure red plane flying over Nottingham it was say half the size of a jumbo jet maybe a bit smaller? Any ideas? It was quite high up?
