You were just a babe! I didn't know you'd been at this Youtube jam for so long. Very cool.

Old school way. It's nice and quiet though? That's one aspect of working by hand I really like. You get into a kind of undisturbed natural meditative rhythm after a while.

Lovely! I lived in an octagonal house about the same radius for a year, a wonderful and quite comfortable space! I was given a little half round table that just don't under one window for an altar.

I love your concept! Looks great so far. Bathroom kind of like a tree house, and a rope bridge. Can't wait for next vid.

Nice job! We really enjoy all your videos. Thank you! BTW my 11 yr. old son giggled whenever you said the word "deck."

If you can use the mortise and tenon structure intstead of nail on the bracket, it will be more perfect and firm. Love your video.

Great start to the tent deck. You are probably noticing everything takes longer than it looks like it should. One day we will have a kitchen, , , (its been 3 years now). Best of luck and thanks for making great videos. Cheers Paul

Hey, can you please share your budget for the deck platform here?

Living Big In A Tiny House great deck guys, the only thing i can say would change is, I would have used a lap jointed flooring. Here in South Texas we have just as many bugs as y'all do, and when that wood shrinks it will open gaps up and let them in. As always great video and be safe on y'alls travels.

What size yurt tent are you putting on the deck? and what size deck are you building?

I am planning on a framed out canvas wall tent with a metal roof fly. Deck can be taken apart. Tent size 12 X 14. A cube construction attached to outside of the rear of tent for a bathroom and a 8 x 12 trailer that will have a rising roof and extension for a wood stove will be the bedroom and aligned behind the bathroom. All of this will fit in the trailer when dismantled.

I love the deck I'm wondering about the weight capacity of a deck like this. Perhaps to build a more sustainable cabin on top of it as I live in the North East kingdom and tents and yurts are not sustainable where I live.

This is awesome guys! Way to go! Good to see Tom and Shaye helping you out there. Can't wait to see the tent go up. Where in New Zealand are you guys? You have a beautiful site.

I would have surface- charred the posts in the Fire to seal them and make them more resistant to rot. Keep it up.

My comments:
1). What a great project ! Excellent building site, and great design of new tiny home.
2). Do you realize, that if a storm takes out your yurt, you could build a geodesic dome straight onto that wooden base - a geodesic dome also requires a decagon base.
3).What's the bet that Bryce and Mel end up preferring to live here long term, (with solar panels etc), instead of their Tiny House ?
4). I noticed: Quote: "...pretty much everything is being done with handsaws and hammers..." but there's a nail gun and a router further on in the video ! - Good on you ! - Don't worry, if it was me building in a remote location, l would have used a 230v generator and as many power tools as possible to speed up and simplify the process, despite the temporary noise pollution.
