On this episode of Newsmakers, WisconsinEye Host Lisa Pugh sits down with Paul Krupski, Wisconsin’s Director of Opioid Initiatives, to discuss how the state is tackling the opioid crisis. Wisconsin begins receiving its share of $26 billion in national opioid settlement payments on April 2. Meanwhile opioid overdose deaths continue to rise. The most recent CDC data estimates a 13% increase in Wisconsin deaths from 2020 to 2021, setting new records. Earlier this year the Department of Health Services hosted listening sessions to hear Wisconsinites’ ideas on how to use these funds. In this segment, Krupski talks about Fentanyl test strips.
