Now put it in the most syncopated 4/4 ever and you've got a Meshuggah riff 😂

I've been a drummer for 25 years before I started playing guitar. I literally took drum rudiments and applied them to guitar. Came in really handy.

This is especially applicable to bass. Pick two notes on two different strings (octaves or fifths are the easiest examples), assign a finger to each note, then treat each finger like a stick

You can use this technique in rap. just use words instead of notes. Harry mack is a great freestyle rapper and he credits his jazz drumming in helping his rap skills

Listen to the Doom 2016 and Eternal soundtracks, Mick Gordon does this all the time and I'm not even sure he's aware of it.

I wrote a riff that i referred to as paradiddle so our drummer could count it!! Amazing idea. So glad people are actually using this idea. Creates tightest rhythm sections.

Fun fact-- if you slow down a note to pretty much the slowest it can go you'll get a drum beat. Notes themselves are just basically super fast drum patterns. It's insane

I actually liked the 1 star difficulty because it would just make a killer breakdown in a song!

I liked that double paradiddle the best... A great insert for a metal song, but just a couple times, max.
