I had an ant colony that lived in my floor and came thru into my daughters room to eat their snacks they would sneak in and hide under their beds. I did regular cleaning and decided to leave the ants be as I not only loved ants, but they helped with the cleaning getting into the corners I couldn't reach with my vacuum at the time. Anyway, one day I noticed a cookie under the bed and went to throw it out. My daughter came running to me yelling "no mom! That's for my ants!" She wasn't sneaking food for herself or sister. She was feeding the ants! It made me happy to know my little 4 year old had a fascination with ants too. I put the cookie back and she told me to watch it with her. She told me they make holes in the food and she would place the food and check it every now and then for the progress made. She was experimenting. Anyway, not even 2 days later we both go check the cookie and it had holes like she said. And when I picked it up, it broke in half and there were the coolest looking tunnels thru out the cookie making it almost hollow. Fast forward a couple years and my daughter is catching queens and has a couple ant colonies of her own that she still loves to feed and watch what they do and how they react to different foods she feeds them. And thanks to channels like this. I have been able to learn how to help care for ants and what types of enclosures to use etc.
