If the camera and probably other apps are constantly running then the battery life must suck. Also, anyone that’s ever used a satellite phone would recognize that no way is this tiny thing satellite capable. The antennas on sat phone are huge and need to be perpendicular to the earth, and since most time you don’t know where the satellite actually is the signal could be blocked by a building or terrain.

The new Huawei phone getting "hot like a hand warmer" is indicative of that 2018 chip of theirs working some serious overtime. It is probably overclocked beyond safety limits to keep up with the modern software and games demands.

If TSMC Engineers didnt go the SMIC, they would have been even further behind. Samsung did the same thing several years ago to catch up to TSMC. SMIC is just following that strategy.
