Top 5 Overdrive Pedals (In The World)
Overdrive pedals are easy to get these days. There are more options than ever before. But that can also make it difficult to choose. So today I thought I'd try to make that choice easier by giving you my top 5 overdrives ever. I hope this helps, and that you enjoy!

SD-1! Yes! I'm still impressed how dynamic the knobs are on that thing. It's worth so much more than you will pay for it.

Any video that mentions Steve Lukather automatically gets an up vote. Great playing and review. Thank you!

Great Review Elmo! I play mostly Blues/Rock and Love the SD-1 and the last pedal with built in Noise Gate. I love P-90s and the Gate would be one less Pedal on my Board. Please keep up the Good Work and Cheers from Salem, Ohio USA.

The Revv G2 is one to consider. I got it on a trade and didn't really give it too much attention but when I did I discovered that this was my new favorite overdrive very quickly. It covers a lot of territory and sound amazing. The Timmy is my second go to overdrive as well as a Klone but I always found something really special about the Timmy.

Great choices - I'm glad to see few non-standard, interesting OD's.

Elmo you sound like the love child of Yngwie and Gary Moore. Bluesy and Shred together. Great vid, makes me want a Stryman even more!

Any pedals that you missed? There are thousands of pedals. You can't help but miss some. Some are very limited production done in someone's garage or shed out back and they only made three because that's all the coffee cans they had. Some are like the Tube Screamer and have spawned a dozen copies which sound the same. Thanks for showing these overdrive pedals.

Good to hear I'm not the only one who pronounces Timmy! like that. My favourites so far are Diva Drive and Sunset. Some Timmy! and Riot clones would be interesting to try one day. And one day I'm going to make a fuzz.

Oh my gosh! the SL-OD sounds JUST LIKE those ubiquitous Steve Lukather tones! I'm actually pretty amazed. It seems like anyone whose heard TOTO enough should be able to spot those. I'm quite surprised by this. You could even kind of play a game and match the tonal variations with the songs he may have played them on. The thing is I've always loved those and I might actually have to get it.

Great video! I have the ODR1, Riverside, and Sunset snd like you, I absolutely love the Riverside. The Sunset is definitely more versatile but the Riverside is the keeper of the two. The ODR1 is also excellent and I stack it ahead of both the Strymons as well as two other drives (Friedman Smallbox and Nordland ODT-C). I know I know, I might have too many drives on my board but I just love them all so much!

The only pedal I think you may have missed is the Tumnus deluxe by Wampler. The Tumnus mini is good, the deluxe is another level though. It adds a very potent eq with a ton of range to it, and a high gain option that makes it super versatile. It stacks exceptionally well with other pedals to- and has a ton of headroom if you want to use it as a boost. The eq comes in handy for that option as well- lets you dial out the low end flubbiness. I really like it, it's a Klon clone, but it's the most versatile, best sounding Klon clone I've ever played.
I'm really interested in the JHS OD Preamp you showed- the DOD 250 tribute. It looks interesting and it's highly collectible so you know it will hold its value and resell easily if that becomes necessary. That said- I hate to sacrifice that much board space for something I doubt I'll use as much as I use the Tumnus already. Besides, I've got too many ODs- I need a few distortion pedals.

Some day I'm gonna have to try the Riverside. My favourite is the T REX Mudhoney. From a touch of overdrive to heavy distortion.

Loved the video though as much as I love the Strymon, I fell in love with the Blackstar Dept 10 Dual Drive. I have a Fulltone 3 but the Blackstar shreds it. So many great tones, cab sim with super user friendly software. I'd love to see what you make of it.
