This is so true ❤ My family have money but we've never celebrated birthdays, or anything related to our academics or our achievements. We never go out as a family (picnics, amusement parks etc). When I graduated I asked them why we never celebrated birthdays or why they never came to any of my school functions or celebrations etc.. they just simply told me that they just didn't feel like it. My parents have always put their work and friends above their children and when I see families like yours eating together, shopping together or going out anywhere as a family, it warms my heart and I feel grateful for them but at the same time it hurts a little 😊
