This year, the opportunity to go away on holiday abroad is on the way back and so, as a result, many of us will be pondering just which watch to take along. In this video, starting at just a few hundred pounds and extending into the low-thousands, I would like to present five dive watches which represent the very best choices for summer whilst giving toughness, versatility and anonymity.

Thank God for Sinn. I'm always swimming around down at 5000 metres.

This year's summer watch is once again my old Citizen NY0040. It is running +4 sec/day and I've been snorkeling fairly deep a good deal with it without issues. Love the Certina and Sinn models here too.

I'm surprised you left out Christopher Ward. I just took delivery of my third, the titanium C60 . At $1700 on bracelet, 1000m wr, light weight etc this is, to me, the perfect travel and holiday watch. I'm fact I bought for a planned trip to East Africa this fall.

I agree with your choices . My favourites are the Seiko Samurai, Certina DS 500ph, and the Seiko MM300

I only have one dive watch, so I would take that, my black Sea-gull Ocean Star. Simple.
If my son came too, he would bring his Tissel diver with the 9 series Miyota movement.
Sorry to mention these two humble watches on this refined and highly respected watch channel. I will leave now with head held low.

Certina is great quality, especially their old DS from 50-60s.

The Certina Super PH 500 would be my first choice. So much so I bought it and put it on a sharkmesh bracelet to give a real vintage vibe. You get a lot of bang for your buck.

A vintage presentation, Sir! Some great choices - love that Certina. I'm not a fan of a 9 o'clock crown (Sinn) - I know the German military love them, but having worked at sea and in water as a diver and scientist, I know they pose a significant snag risk. Incidentally, this is my reason for choosing crown guards - they help 'shrug' off snags from line etc, though a 4 o'clock crown is best, which brings us to... All hail the king: the MM3000. Ok so the PS 'X' is an ugly price to pay for globalisation, but what a watch! The 44mm wears small and there is no better diver for the money. You'd have to get to Planet Ocean or Sea Dweller (now with hideous Datejust Cyclops) for the same functionality. As for 'holiday watch', I like a skin diver style, preferably blue. So Seiko SBDX039 Glacier. Or, Spring Drive, titanium GMT - Seiko LX SNR049J1. That does light diving, GMTing (?) and cycling! Wat evs, my holiday's on hold...

"Forgive me Father I have Sinned!" I have the U1 tegimented as well as the 104 St A with the Arabic numerals. I am going on holiday shortly and the U1 is on my list of four I am taking with me. It is tough as nails. I am definitely a Sinner and every model they produce is a winner, cannot go wrong and never it will fail!

I work ed on certina watch faces. A really good quality, rugged, reliable watch for daily use at a good price. Just a bit less prestige than Longines but 10 micron tolerance on dials. This is a really great watch at under £1000.

I own a newer mm300, a Seiko Sla023 and previously owned an SBDX017- it really is worth reiterating from experience that the hardlex and bezel material on the older model were perfectly fine and despite daily wear for 2 years and many holidays in that time, they never scratched. They always pop up as “issues” with the watch but rarely if ever from people that have owned the watch. Similarly the size and weight are easy to get used after a couple of weeks for me and many others but people often return/flip the watch within a few days due to worries about how it wears. I say all this as a passionate advocate for the watch having loved mine and missed it once sold. I hope to keep the current one for the foreseeable future.

(Interesting video as always- thanks for your content)

100% agree, Your criteria for a summer diver watch. Should be the criteria for ANY dive watches.
I hate those people who won't jump off the yacht, just because they're too worried they might ruin their watch. Bro, you're in the amalfi coast. What kinda holiday is it if you won't do that just because of your watch. So unless you're prepared to damage / ruin a watch, don't take it on your summer holiday.

Several nice timepieces in this video. I like the Certina and I don't have an orange dial watch in my collection. Presently I am on holiday in Kefalonia, Greece. Next we plan to sail to the neighboring Island of Zakynthos. I opted for my SqualeMatic. Since I do a lot of sailing, that Sinn looks like it can take the beating. 🍷
