Where to camp in the Vic High Country that has easy access for AWD vehicles?
The Vic High Country has endless places for you to setup camp.
But, not all of them are easy to access for people that drive an All Wheel Drive ( AWD ) vehicle.
In this video, I’m going to suggest a number of camping spots in and around the Vic High Country, where you can go and setup up camp with a basic off road vehicle.
Even if you have a well setup 4WD, these camping spots would make great locations to base camp, so you can head out on the 4WD tracks for the day and return to camp later.
You can even take your dogs with you into some of these camping spots.
Some of the best camping sites can be found without even having to lock in the front hubs and engage 4WD. It is really nice heading away to just kick back and relax around a campfire out in the bush and even better if you can setup your camp beside one of the mountains streams that flow through the Vic High Country.
Camping lifestyle is so relaxing and a great way to leave all of the hustle and bustle of city life behind for a few days, while you unwind in with family and friends out in the bush.

You are the only 4WD Youtuber that I know of that doesn't judge people for what they drive, that is such a nice change Tim, well-done mate.

Buckland Valley is always great. One of our favourite spots.

Hi Tim,

I had to go and do the loop from Bairnsdale to Orbost via McKillop s Bridge and checkout the Little River Junction Campsite in the process, earlier this week, (avoided the Easter crowds) it truly is such a magnificent spot.

I’m tempted to do the track that follows the Snowy River from Orbost to McKillop’s bridge via Raymond Creek Falls Campsite.

As far as when to engage 4wd, I follow the advice from Andrew St Pierre White (4XOverland) and Ronny Dahl and slip it in to 4wd (and lock my hubs) as soon as I leave the bitumen.

Cheers.

Fantastic video, Tim. I'm a hiker, mountain biker with an AWD vehicle and this video is superb for me. Great content and keep the vids coming. Cheers.

I got a spun steel oven, and it's great, but I make sure I check it often.

Hey Tim. Big ask here and understand if it's too time consuming to respond. Heading to the high country from Geelong for two nights in a couple weeks. Leaving at 2pm on a Friday. Assuming weather is good...any tips on some mild tracks to take over the two days? Maybe a good spot to aim to camp? Land Cruiser and Isuzu MUX both lifted and equipped. One experienced driver and one novice/intermediate. At the very least... Thanks so much for your videos. Love the content. You do a great job mate. Keep it up!! Cheers.
