most popular song each month since january 2010 (outdated version)

Determining the most popular song each month is done with the United States Billboard charts. Any song that hit number one can be considered the most popular of the month. If a song spans multiple months then they will not be repeated. Some songs that peaked in multiple months won't appear the first month they peaked such as "Tik Tok" by Kesha. Songs in place of number ones that already appeared can either be a song that hit number two that month or a song that was huge but was blocked for a long time by multiple songs. Starting January 2022 the V30 charts started, which counts streaming more than radio play so it is more accurate to what is actually popular so I switched to using that. "All I Want For Christmas Is You" also gets skipped.

It's crazy how I have specific memories for every single one of these songs

I love how July 2022 brings forth the first ever 80s song to appear in this position after 2010.

2010 was lowkey one of the best years ever for pop music, top 3 for sure.

I'm Gen Z, barely entering into adulthood, and it's interesting to hear this music now because I think I can finally understand the emotions my parents feel when they listen to their old music. I'm a 2010s kid and when I have kids and one of these songs is played somewhere, I'm going to get super hyped and my kids will roll their eyes at me and the cycle will be complete. I've never really experienced true nostalgia before, and it's really weird to suddenly step back and become aware of your own aging.

As a 2004 baby, it’s crazy how as the songs go by in this video, I increasingly remember more and more things at the moment I first heard these songs. So much nostalgia

As a Gen Z kid, Bad Romance has a special place in my heart… I think it’s purely nostalgic and iconic.

No one's talking enough about Bruno Mars! He's been a consistent hit maker for longer than I thought, even though I grew up listening to him on the radio 📻

2010-2013 were the times when Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Rihanna had the music industry on a chokehold. They were releasing hit after hit!

Edit: People are replying to my comment as if I am implying that the other artists I didn’t mention aren’t as big as the ones I mentioned.

Yes, I know that Bruno Mars, Adele, Nicki Minaj, Maroon 5 and Taylor Swift contributed a lot too. There’s just too many artists to name. I just named the ones that struck me the most.

it's so crazy to see in 15 minutes how much music has changed in 22 years.

I just watched the last 12 years of my life flash before my eyes. Strange how much of our experiences are tied to music.

Despacito at one point felt like it was never gonna end. I thought I forgot it ever existed already. This was a shell shock. Anti-nostalgic af.

The fact that I was raised with this songs in my childhood is absolutely amazing. I’m also surprised how I can remember most lyrics from each song.. 2015-2016 songs were a hit 🔥

God this was a blast of nostalgia, very fun. Just realised how much Katy Perry dominated the music world back then.
