When I first got to the Soul of Cinder, I (while only having snipets of lore, I hadn't even watched any Vaati yet) inmediately felt the "soul" crushing weight of the Plin Plin Plon. I hadn't played DS1 yet, only DS2 at the time.


I inmediately felt: "This is one of the greatest bosses of the greatest game of all time. I don't want this to end. Please, let me die to return to the fury of phase 1..."
