U.K. supermodel Stella Tennant dies at 50 - Celerity News | Celebrity World

The model Stella Tennant has died, five days after her 50th birthday on 17 December. According to police, there were no suspicious circumstances around her death.

Her family said: "Stella was a wonderful woman and an inspiration to us all. She will be greatly missed."

The Scot made her name in the early 1990s on catwalks for designers like Karl Lagerfeld and Versace, and on the covers Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.

Tennant was scouted by the photographer Steven Meisel for her first British Vogue shoot in 1993.

Tennant than went on to work with designers and fashion houses including Alexander McQueen, Calvin Klein, Jean Paul Gaultier and Burberry.

Stella Tennant won several awards, including VN1/Vogue Model of the Year Award in 2001, Model of the Year at the 2011 British Fashion Awards and the Contribution to British Fashion award at the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year 2016 awards;

Stella Tennant was also inducted into the Scottish Fashion Awards Hall of Fame as Model of the Year in 2012.
