Lets Brick Bionicle - TOA HAGAH

Показать описание
The Toa Hagah teams were selected by the Brotherhood of Makuta from previously-existing Toa teams. The word "Hagah" meant "guardian" in Matoran, referencing their task.
One Toa Hagah team, the one assigned to protect Teridax, had discovered the Brotherhood had stolen the Kanohi Avohkii. At this time, 1,300 years ago, four of their members, Gaaki, Kualus, Bomonga, and Pouks, had raided the fortress on Destral they were tasked with guarding, and stole the Mask of Light and the Makoki Stones. Despite being captured, they were freed by two other members on the team, Iruini and Norik, and escaped. Unfortunately for them, Roodaka mutated them into Rahaga, mutations of Toa Hagah and Rahkshi.

4 of the Toa Hagah were given a physical Form through the TTV-Canon Contest:
Toa Kualus was designed by SubParFauxPas
Toa Pouks was designed by Kodiak
Toa Gaaki was designed by Doni
Toa Bomonga was designed by TheUnderscoredDouble
Artwork was made by SpecterL

Just found out about these guys and the story behind how they got canonized. Feels like a chunk of my childhood from an alternate universe where the Hagah were a full set of six haha

Now that I've finally seen this, it still feels surreal to see the entire team of Toa Hagah, especially considering how they were (or weren't) released at the onset. As the final sets of the "Flashback Years" arc (2004-05) of Bionicle, Iruni (8762) and Norik (8763) were first released in the Summer/early Autumn of 2005 as a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Lego system, even though the actual Lego brick in itself didn't actually celebrate its 50th anniversary until the start of 2008. Iruni was the only one I had, and I distinctly remember obtaining it as leftover stock from a Toys R Us in July of 2006. Shortly before going to a graduation party for the daughter of someone my mom was friends with. It was my second set of an Air-associated character or species, having obtained Nidhiki (8622) a few months prior, and was also my first time getting many of its parts. Being that I didn't have Lhikan (in 8811) and didn't get the Metru form of Whenua (8603) until mid-2007. It was also my first time getting the Toa Metru breast plate in black, and was the only set to have the "Magnetism Shield" on his chest and the end part of his "Cyclone Spear" in metallic sand yellow. Norik (8763) was not available individually in North America, as he was in other markets, and both Iruni and himself were also the first canister sets to have more than 50 parts in their construction. Even though most of his parts are repurposed from other sets, he is the final set to have the silver Metru Matoran torso and the "Aqua Axe" on his "Lava Spear". His Kanohi Pehkui is also the Kanohi Kiril recolored in silver. For sixteen years, the other four Hagah didn't have depictions, though it is difficult to determine how some of their parts were obtained. Given how some were custom painted. Or how in the case of Pouks and Kualus, they use a fair number of parts from other themes, such as "Knights Kingdom II" (2004-06). Bomonga has perhaps the greatest number of custom painted parts, being that Lego has not used metallic green in sets in at least 22 years.

I bought Iruini and Norik right as they came out and followed the Bionocle Lore. Always wondered how the four other Toa Hagah loon. Awesome creations my favorite is Kualus

Don't know if it's the toa of stone or earth (always confuse the two), but the super bulky size and the light green/black color scheme + super bulky little guy looks amazing, I'm really digging it !

Did you paint bomongas pieces yourself or order them from someone? If you painted them what paint did you use and what color were the original pieces. The green used is perfect.

You're my go-to guy for models that LEGO never officially gave instructions by this point, I may as well admit it.
What do you think about the outcome of the artwork half of the Hagah contest? Personally, I much prefer the design by Ar9914 - that one felt much more lively than the Hagah all just standing there in line.
I'm assuming most of the metallic pieces are painted?

Is there a like a list for the official parts I can use to hunt them down on bricklink or a website where I can buy the parts that I can't just find on bricklink or eBay?

Did you 3D print or paint the parts that didn’t have those recolors?
