I read The Book of Essie and also thought it was just fine. It just wasn't dark enough for me.

Ahhh! I feel like I’m going to feel the same way with Everything We Didn’t Say and Girl A. I’ve been like… avoiding them. I didn’t MIND Reckless Girls but I wasn’t going in with high hopes because I gave The Wife Upstairs like 3 stars. Which isn’t bad, just not mind blowing for me

Oh the Oracle Year I read when I first got back into reading again years ago and it was just 3 stars. There is a movie and it also wasn't that great.
