Let's Talk About Yu-Gi-Oh FTK Decks!

As any Yu-Gi-Oh player will tell, there is no worse feeling than being FTK'd by your opponent. As it happens, Firewall Dragon is at the center of a lot of popular FTKs like the Danger Dark World FTK. With a new banlist just around the corner, how should Konami handle these decks?

*Thanks for watching the video, everyone! I tried a few new things with the presentation and editing, so I hope you all enjoy it!* 😃
Oh yeah, and do you think it's Firewall Dragon, the Burn cards, or something else that's the real problem here?

Next time I go against Danger Darkworld FTK I'm going to just eat my opponent's deck. What they gonna do? Solemn judgment? You can't stop this strategy.

I'm pretty sure Jesus had less of an audience when people were screaming to kill him than right now with Firewall.

I love how this video turned out the cut were so clean, the tone was excellent, and the attitude fit. Please do more like this.

Great video Alec; truly one of your best. I like watching your videos cause it brings a familiar face but a new voice to the channel. Keep doing this.

Now, here’s my 2-bits on FTKs and Burn cards. Non-OPT burn cards like Cannon Soldier and Amazoness Archer are problems on their own simply because they are just begging to be exploited through loops, just like DMOC pre-errata, so Firewall isn’t solely to blame, though it is the catalyst that sparked this problem (no pun intended) and brought to light these other problematic cards. Sure they can ban Firewall dragon, but it’s only a matter of time before another archetype in the future finds a way to exploit the burn damage that cards like Cannon Soldier can provide and further make the card a problem. I do say ban firewall still, because FTK aside, it’s still a loopy overpowered card that begs to be exploited, but also probably safe to hit these non-OPT burn cards too unless they get a OPT errata) to prevent them from further being exploited. Besides, is anyone really going to miss cannon soldier if it gets banned anyway?... I mean, nobody was playing it before firewall, so why would they play it afterwards unless to exploit a burn FTK?...

I like this style of video a lot. Its definitely fresh from most discussion yugioh videos. Very pleasing to watch and did not get bored.

Please keep doing videos of common yugioh terminology that new players don’t know! It is so helpful. And keep up the great videos!!!

I have the theory that Cannon Soldier is an extremely healthy card to have in every format: If Cannon Soldier is playable it is because of an engine that can do extremely broken things and needs to get hit.

DDW uses Cannon Soldier because it kills you in the first turn, but it could just extra link you and pass the turn.

The most fun way Konami could stop FTKs is to make a deck that has cards that activate in the hand or Deck when your LP drop to 0. Something similar to Kiryu's "undeath" card in the anime.

Hell I even designed a custom set of cards that expanded on that whole premise. It was basically a cursed suit of armor in the form of 5 monster cards that turned the duelist into a fantasy-style Death Knight with 6 turns to live. In exchange though you got some potent effects like being able to kill just about anything in combat and being able to pop back and front row cards once a turn as well as the armor being immune to destruction.

I know Konami would never go that far, but at least some kind of "second chance" cards would be an interesting and fun way of dealing with FTK's, especially since most of the time they're one'n'done strategies with no backup plan.

My ftk deck was an "Empty Jar" deck. It ran morphing jar and needle worm for a deck out
