First billed as ideal for ultralight hikers, the venerable Bugout proved itself an EDC folding knife champ. Now, with more blade steels and handle materials, plus substantial aftermarket support, there’s never been a better time to get a Benchmade Bugout.

I've had a number of Benchmade's. You pay a large premium for the name. Especially with their auto and otf product. Plenty of quality brands with comparable or superior product for a much lower price.

One solid reason not to buy Benchmade knives: They are way overpriced.

Most Benchmade products are too expensive for what the buyer receives, of course, other knife brands suffer with the same problem.

Mine arrived with the blade scraping on the liner on one side. How it ever left the factory like this I'll never understand. I disassembled and reassembled, and it had the same scraping action. No more Benchmades for me.

If you are thinking about it then just buy one. I have had 2 over a couple years and never had a single problem. Awesome knife overall 😎

Love the aftermarket Scales. Stock Ones feel 3D Printed, like you can snap it in half. *Edit* 0:26 Can you or someone else tell me if you’ve also bought brand new benchmade knifes and noticed their Clips look weathered?

Strong points. I have both the mini, and the full size. The mini arrived with a smooth action. The full-sized one wasn't so and very disappointing for the money I paid. In summary, I would only recommend if they were priced $70 - $100.

I was just at my local knife store and finally decided to see what all the hype was about. Not a benchmade fanboy, but I’ve always had great products from them. Very unimpressed, especially for the price. I wanted to buy it just to see if I could snap it in half at the pivot.

I almost bought one but they were out of stock so I got a 40$ kershaw and I am not disappointed

I especially like the pocket clip on these. Add some titanium parts and slick them up some by polishing & lubing …you’ll have a pretty nice shiv .

I'll pass, thanks. $180 for cheap, flimsy plastic scales and S30V is an unbelievably bad value.

The knife that changed the knife industry, in a great way. Instead of pocket anchors you could get a full size knife sub 2oz. Any serious knife guy has a Bugout.

Lot of trashing on it in the comment section. But I've been using mine for the better part of a year, while routinely scraping it on straight up metal, never had to sharpen it once, and it is still crazy sharp. Only problem is the clip got caught on something as I was walking by, bent the clip and part of the knife so it doesn't open as smooth. But it still works just fine

I used to think this was the small knife to carry until I tried the Spyderco Native 5. I would still recommend the Bugout to people if the prices didn’t just go up though.

Over the axis lock. Make it a top plunge/button, and I'll buy it

Would love to see a top ten folding knives with aftermarket scales/handles support. 🤙
