Mamata Banerjee Speaks On Kolkata Horror Probe Details, Says 'Send All Probe Updates To Parents'

The Mamata Banerjee government tabled an anti-rape bill in the West Bengal Assembly. The BJP also backed the bill for capital punishment for rapists. The proposed legislation, titled the 'Aparajita Woman and Child Bill (West Bengal Criminal Laws and Amendment) Bill 2024,' seeks to impose the death penalty on individuals convicted of rape if the crime results in the victim's death or leaves her in a vegetative state. The bill was introduced in the state Assembly by West Bengal Law Minister Moloy Ghatak.
