Professor Pete Higgins discusses the role of outdoor learning in facing the challenges of the 21st century, after COP26.

From Outdoors to Labour Market (FOLM) is a 3.5-year project which uses best practice from Scotland (led by Venture Trust and University of Edinburgh), to enable partner agencies in Ireland, Poland and Spain to set-up and run outdoor-based youth employability programmes targeting unemployed young people (aged 18-29), and ultimately to enable them to enter the labour market and/or take up further study.

The project, funded by the EEA and Norway Grants, has used Venture Trust’s three-phased approach to outdoor personal development (the ‘Edinburgh model’), and engaged with 990 participants across the three beneficiary countries. This event looks at and analyses the results of the project, and features presentations from those involved and discussions around the benefits seen through this work.
