New York Gov. Cuomo holds a briefing on the coronavirus outbreak - 5/6/2020

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo holds his daily press conference on the Covid-19 outbreak, which has infected more than 321,100 people across the state as of Wednesday, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. On Tuesday, Cuomo rebuked President Donald Trump's complaint that it's unfair for Republicans to provide "bailouts" to Democrat-led states suffering from the coronavirus pandemic. "It's not red or blue, it's red, white and blue. This coronavirus doesn't pick Democrats or Republicans. It doesn't kill Democrats or Republicans, it kills Americans," Cuomo said at his daily press briefing.

did they ask if these people at home had spouses or other household members that are working that could be bringing it home? if we dont have a clear answer this is very scary, the only thing could be when they go out for essentials they are getting infected in places like supermarkets, etc where else would they get it

Hi from Melbourne, Victoria. Australia, The only way to beat this thing is strict isolation. We were lucky because we have a state premier who is very much like your NY Gov. He closed us up cracked down fast and hard. For those who ascribe our success to a sparse population. Nah! Melbourne is a city of almost 5 million; Sydney is larger. Most of us live in cities or big towns. We've had a couple of slip ups, one involving a cruise ship and another a group of arrogant elite travellers but the airlines were closed down internationally and domestically. State and even regional borders closed. Isolation and the heavy restriction of movement is the only think that works. It's common sense. I haven't seen our children or grandchildren since February except on Zoom and we read to them on FaceTime every night. People are encouraged to minimise their trips to the shops and then we socially isolate and are allowed in only 15 at a time in a large supermarket. Perspex guards have been up for a while and we use gloves and masks and wash down any packaging with warm soapy water. We have been using masks for a long time, my friend sewed over 50 and sent them to family and friends, with the note that they only work for about 30 mins until they become damp. That is another factor. Change masks frequently. We are currently having pressure applied from our Federal government to restart schools but the population in general isn't keen. We can see how this lockdown has kept us safe. The teachers have put heaps of work into their lessons and have just got used to the system. Children of workers or those that can't cope with Schooling at Home attend but are spaced out and do the on-line lessons and can be supervised more closely. The PM can 'get nicked' as far as we are concerned. He nicked off on holiday whilst we had millions of acres of brushfire and millions of wildlife and stock burnt. His 'authority' is negligible. We have less than 100 deaths Australia wide and we are opening slowly but we can be patient for a while longer.

I commented on your briefing earlier I compared you to Donald Trump... I shouldnt have done that. You are not even in the same category as him. You are a real man. I really think he watches your briefings for the same reason that I do. You are not only a wonderful governor ... you are a wonderful human being. I have never heard you put someone down in order to make yourself feel taller. I did hear you the day you put Donald Trump in his place tho..yo u did that without a written speech. and you did it with a calm demeanor and with such backbone!!!
