It's funny because these numbers would be a dream today. A modern politician would kill to have numbers this high.

My father was a corporate and charter Pilot in the Boston/Cape area. Business aircraft were smaller then, more personal. Dad flew one or more Kennedy several times. He and his contemporaries said that about Bobby. Everyone did like the Kennedys but Bobby was the most personable and kind to others. A fact reflected in Bobby's last words.

Seriously, this conversation just goes to show how extreme today's political polarization is. I long for the days when Ds and Rs could agree on the fundamentals (like the rule of law and democracy) despite disagreeing on policy; nowadays, one side has gone so completely off the deep end that they are willing to do away with democracy and the rule of law if it means staying in power.

Being a brother myself, hearing these two men talk and chuckle is such a wholesome, almost surreal, moment. Sure its to be expected based on what we know, but it nevertheless shows just how down to earth so e of these men and women of history were. We hear about them in the big moments that more often then not ensured their place in history, but it's less often we see them just being your near ordinary people in life just living. Case and point, the Kennedy brothers, despite one being President and the other being Attorney General, they are both still people and brothers who have grown up together and still cracking a joke or goof off a little even in office.
